Baseball Splits Games vs. PSU Schuylkill

This past weekend, Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Baseball team had important games against Penn State Schuylkill. On Friday, PSU Schuylkill came away with the 9-5 win over the Mountain Lions. PSU Wilkes-Barre pitcher John Shaver gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning, and PSU Schuylkill never looked back from there. Their key player on offense was Matt Roberts, who went 3-5 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Pitcher Derrick Eberhart went 8 innings, allowing 9 H, 4 ER, 4 BB and 6 K. For the Mountain Lions, Shaver went 5 innings, giving up 9 H, 5 ER, and 4 K. Zach Sott went 2-4 with 1 RBI and 2 SB, and Leroy Fettig went 3-5 with 2 runs scored.

In the first game on Saturday, PSU Wilkes-Barre secured a 12-7 victory. The offense came alive late, scoring 10 of the 12 after the 4th innings. Eric Adamczyk led the way for the Mountain Lions, going 3-5 with a home run, 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored, and 2 SB. Brian Hardiman also had a good day at the plate, as he had a 3-run home run in the top of the 6th. Another key contributor was Francis Brodi. He was 2-4 with 2 RBIs and the plate, while also pitching 2 innings in relief without giving up a run.

The last game these two teams played over the weekend was suspended in the top of the 10th due to darkness. The game was tied 7-7.

PSU Wilkes-Barre's next games are tomorrow at Penn State Hazleton at 1pm and 3pm.
