Lady Lions outmatched in Double-Header Weekend

Penn State Wilkes-Barre's women's basketball team traveled to Greater Allegheny on Jan. 15 to hunt for another win. The first quarter was a close match, Wilkes-Barre's Lady Lions were only two points behind with a score of 16-14. The same could be said for the second quarter, with a seven-point deficit, the score being 34-27 at half time. The Lady Lions were still behind in the third quarter, with a score of 62-38. Although they played as hard as they could, the women's team finished in the fourth quarter behind with a score of 84-48 Penn State Greater Allegheny. Top points scorers of the game were #1 Sophomore Stephanie Jaramillo (Queens, New York/Bayside High School) with 15 points and #32 Junior Quatazia Johnson (Landover, Maryland/Northwestern High School) with 12 points. The team's record is now 1-7 in the conference and 2-8 overall. The Lady Lions then played Penn State Du Bois on Martin Luther King Day, Jan 16 for the second part of the double-header weekend. DuBois came out on top in a 62-41 victory where our Wilkes-Barre Lady Lions lost the game off the boards being out done in rebounds by 58-32. Junior Quatazia Johnson led the team with 15 points. The Lady Lions play again at home Wednesday, Jan 18 at 6pm against Penn State York.
