Lady Lions Fall to Penn State York

Penn State Wilkes-Barre was eager to take a win against Penn State York on Jan. 18. The women's game started at 6 p.m., and for the first few minutes of the first quarter, no shots found their way into the net. The first two points on the Lady Lions' side came from #15 Sophomore Shamonie Rose. Although they fought hard, by the end of the first quarter the Lady Lions were down 19 points with a score of 24-5 York. The second quarter saw Wilkes-Barre catch up and by halftime the score was 33-24 York. The Lady Lions fought on, but unfortunately did not score enough points to take the win. In the third quarter, the score was 61-39 York and the final score was 81-59 York. The top points scorers of the game were #1 Sophomore Stephanie Jaramillo (Queens, New York/Bayside High School) with 26 points, #32 Junior Quatazia Johnson (Landover, Maryland/Northwestern High School) with 13 points, and #22 Freshman Hannah Cook (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania/G.A.R. Memorial High School) with 13 points.
