Lady Lions Struggle Against Hazleton

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Lady Lions were on the road, taking on Penn State Hazleton on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. The first 2 points were made by #1 Stephanie Jaramillo, who landed a jump shot at 8 minutes and 37 seconds in the first quarter. The score at the end of the quarter was 19-10 Hazleton. The team scored 9 points in the second quarter but were unfortunately still behind at halftime with the score 37-19 Hazleton. To kick off the third quarter, Jaramillo made a 3-point jump shot into the net. At the end of the quarter the Lady Lions were still behind, with a score of 58-31 Hazleton. The fourth quarter the Lady Lions were fierce, gaining on Hazleton, but were unable to secure the win. The final score was 79-51 Hazleton. Top points scorers of the game were #1 Sophomore Stephanie Jaramillo (Queens, New York/Bayside High School) with 23 points, #11 Sophomore Jaidyn Kotch (Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Nanticoke Area High School) with 11 points, and #32 Junior Quatazia Johnson (Landover, Maryland/Northwestern High School) with 8 points. Their current record is 1-10 in the conference and 2-11 overall. After a week-long break from games, the Lions will be back on their home court to take on Penn State Brandywine on Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
