Lady Lions Edged Out by Mont Alto

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Women's Basketball team traveled to Penn State Mont Alto on Feb. 14, hoping for a win. The Lady Lions pounced on the opportunity to make some shots and had a 6-point lead in the first quarter with a score of 18-12. In the second quarter, with 8 minutes left, the score was tied at 20-20, but it wasn't before long before another shot was made. With a very close second quarter, the Lady Lions made it to halftime 1 point down with a score of 24-25 Mont Alto. In the third quarter, the Lady Lions' scoring slowed down, but they still maintained a steady score of 35-49, Mont Alto taking the lead. The fourth quarter gave Penn State Wilkes-Barre the chance to catch up, but the final score was 53-64 Mont Alto. Top scorers of the game were #1 Sophomore Stephanie Jaramillo (Queens, New York/Bayside High School) with 23 points, #22 Freshman Hannah Cook (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania/G.A.R. Memorial High School) with 16 points, and #15 Sophomore Shamonie Rose (Washington, D.C./Kipp High School) with 11 points. The team's record is now 1-15 in the conference and 2-16 overall. The Lady Lions travel to Penn State Scranton for their next game on Feb. 18 at 3 p.m
