Mountain Lions face second Division I team within a week

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team traveled to Morgan State University to play the Bears on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. From the start, Morgan State University put the pressure on, but that didn't stop the Mountain Lions from putting up points.

#25 senior Allen Ozojie (Union, New Jersey/Brookdale C.C.) was the first to score for Penn State, making both his shots from the free throw line. Soon after Ozojie went in for a dunk, scoring another two points for the Mountain Lions.

The playing field was even with both teams carrying their share of powerful players. The Mountain Lions' #12 senior Jalen Willis (Baltimore, Maryland/Genesse C.C.) made two points off a jump shot, and later pushed through two of Morgan State's defensive players to score another two-pointer. With little more than a minute left in the half, Willis sunk a three-point shot, bringing the score at the end of the first half to 36-29 Morgan State.

At the start of the second half the Mountain Lions dominated on the court, giving Morgan State almost no chances to get shots in. Willis kicked off the scoring by shooting a three-pointer at the top of the arc. Within minutes, The Mountain Lions closed the gap, bringing the score to 36-34 Morgan State.

After a fumble by Morgan State, Willis got his hands on the ball to make a pass more than halfway down the court to #14 senior Teequan Holley (Queens, New York/Sullivan C.C.) who made a layup.

#13 junior Jedidiah Ashton (Brooklyn, New York/Monroe College) got a rebound at the net and made a layup, but also got fouled in the paint, which put three points on the board for the Mountain Lions.

With less than eight minutes left in the game #4 junior Rashod Ballard (Largo, Maryland/Ann Arundel C.C.) tied up the score to 50-50. Wilkes-Barre then started to fall behind on points, but #20 sophomore Anton Berga (Queens, New York/Martin Luther High School) broke the minutes-long lull by making a three-point shot.

The final score of the game was 78-60 Morgan State.

Top points scorers of the game were #12 Jalen Willis with 16, #14 Teequan Holley with 15, and #20 Anton Berga with 14. The Mountain Lions play their next game on Friday, Nov. 17 at Penn State New Kensington at 8 p.m.
