Wilkes-Barre victorious over Penn State Lehigh Valley

On Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m., Penn State Wilkes-Barre's men's basketball team played Penn State Lehigh Valley at home. Although Lehigh Valley was quick to put points on the board, the Mountain Lions quickly returned, #1 junior Dennis Cash (Moreno Valley, California/Moreno Valley) getting the first two points on the board.

#14 senior Teequan Holley (Queens, New York/Sullivan C.C.) was given a long pass down the court, beating Lehigh Valley players to the net and scoring on a layup. Holley dominated on the court, getting an AND1 and scoring multiple points from layups and a chance at the free throw line.

With 11 minutes in the first half, Wilkes-Barre and Lehigh Valley were neck and neck, with Lehigh ahead only one point (19-18). #2 junior Elijah Perez (Bronx, New York/Stevenson HS) assisted Dennis Cash, who made an incredible dunk over Lehigh's players.

#20 sophomore Anton Berga (Queens, New York/Martin Luther HS) made a layup after a long pass down the court, making a slow gain in points. Elijah Perez got an AND1, putting the Mountain Lions one point behind Lehigh Valley. After sinking a free throw shot, Perez tied the score.

At the halftime buzzer, #13 junior Jedidiah Ashton (Brooklyn, New York/Monroe College) made a layup, bringing Wilkes-Barre ahead 39-37 as they left the court.

During the second half, Teequan Holley scored on a one-handed jump shot, making sure the Mountain Lions stayed ahead of their opponents. Multiple 3-point shots were made, including one by #4 junior Rashod Ballard (Largo, Maryland/Ann Arundel C.C.).

Perez was blocked at the half court, Lehigh's players scrambling to put an end to scoring. After getting fouled multiple times, Perez was finally able to get his free throw shots, sinking both.

At the end of the second half, the score was 90-77 Wilkes-Barre. Top points scorers of the game were Teequan Holley with 24, Dennis Cash with 19, and Elijah Perez with 16. The Mountain Lions play their next game at home on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. against Penn State Scranton.
