The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's basketball team played Penn State Brandywine at home on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. The first quarter's scoring started with #22 sophomore Hannah Cook (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania/G.A.R. Memorial High School) making a layup.
After a thirty-second time out, #24 junior Aysia Pink (Albany, New York/Monroe College) made a three-point jump shot to bring the score up to five points. With thirty seconds left in the quarter, #0 junior Tanae Arnold (West Hartford, Connecticut/Monroe College) made a layup.
At the first quarter buzzer, #11 junior Jaidyn Kotch (Nanticoke, Pennsylvania/Nanticoke Area High School) made her own three-point jump shot. The score was 20-17 Brandywine.
In the second quarter, scoring was low for the Lady Lions, who put only six points up on the board. Aysia Pink started the scoring by making a free throw with three minutes left in the quarter.
After an assist by Pink, Tanae Arnold made a three-point jump shot. Aysia Pink continued the scoring with a layup at the end. The score at the end of the second quarter was 41-16 Brandywine.
In the third quarter, Aysia Pink struck again with another three-point shot and layup, making her ninth point of the game. Pink went on to make two more three-point shots before the buzzer sounded.
Hannah Cook made a layup with seven seconds left in the quarter, edging closer. The score at the buzzer was 57-34 Brandywine.
In the final quarter, Arnold and Pink would add more points to the board with layups and jump shots. #3 sophomore Inayah Muhammad made her own three-point shot with three minutes left.
#14 junior Shamonie Rose (Washington, D.C./Kipp High School) made a jump shot with just over a minute and a half left. Aysia Pink finished off the scoring with a three-pointer.
The final score of the game was 79-56 Brandywine. Top points scorers of the game were Aysia Pink with 29, Tanae Arnold with 8, and Jaidyn Kotch with 6.
