Baseball Extends Win Streak to Eleven Following Senior Day Sweep

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Chris Osenbach, Dayne Yourkavitch, Ethan Naftzinger, Jared Sterner, Owen Zimmerman, and Ryan Jarboe were all honored as Penn State Schuylkill celebrated senior day with a sweep over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Schuylkill has won 15 of their last 16 contests.

Game One: Penn State Schuylkill 11, Penn State Wilkes-Barre 0

RayJay Marmolejos (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson High School) doubled to kick off the bottom of the first and crossed home plate on a single by Connor Licklider (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) on the subsequent play. Schuylkill added their second run as Owen Shoop (Tower City, PA / Williams Valley High School) doubled to right field, bringing in Brenan Adams (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) who had singled earlier in the inning.

Tristian Baer (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) contributed an RBI in the bottom of the third with a fielder's choice that brought Marmolejos home. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Ethan Naftzinger (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) singled to drive in two more runs for Schuylkill. A single by Kyle Kaminski (Lodi, NJ / Saint Mary High School) followed, adding two more runs to Schuylkill's lead, putting them up 7-0 heading into the fourth.

Three hits for Schuylkill in the bottom of the fourth resulted in four more runs, closing out Wilkes-Barre in five innings.

Kaminski went 2-3 at bat with two RBIs. Naftzinger led the team with three RBIs. Marmolejos and Shoop each notched a double in the victory. Jared Sterner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) pitched the entire game, allowing only two hits while striking out five batters.

Game Two: Penn State Schuylkill 14, Penn State Wilkes-Barre 0

A single and a double by Licklider and Owen Zimmerman (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School), respectively, led to an early run for Schuylkill in the bottom of the first as Kaminski drove in the RBI. In the following inning, Sterner singled and then stole both second and third bases. He subsequently scored as Aidan Murhon (New Philadelphia, PA / Pottsville Area High School) drove him in on the next play.

Schuylkill had a productive third inning, scoring six runs highlighted by singles from Naftzinger and Marmolejos, as well as Chris Duffy (Perkasie, PA / Lansdale Catholic High School) stealing home plate. Schuylkill duplicated their six-run total in the next frame, with Zimmerman's double driving in three runs.

Zimmerman hit two doubles and drove in three runs for Schuylkill. Marmolejos contributed two RBIs. Naftzinger pitched 5.0 innings, allowing only two hits.

Schuylkill (28-10, 16-4 PSUAC) will take on Middlesex College in their next game on Sunday.
