Men's Basketball Loses Road Matchup to Penn State Wilkes-Barre

DALLAS, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball fell in their Tuesday night PSUAC matchup to Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

A layup by Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Catonsville High School) and consecutive three point makes by Andrew Sepp (Bogota, NJ / Saint Mary High School) granted Schuylkill an early 8-3 lead with 15:26 to play in the first half, all assisted by Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School). Byrd continued to find the open man, connecting with Hadir Boswell (Philadelphia, PA / West Philadelphia Catholic High School) to initiate a 7-1 run for Schuylkill, extending their lead to double-digits with 11:32 remaining in the half.

A late quarter run by Wilkes-Barre saw them narrow their deficit to 24-22 with 4:06 remaining. A three-pointer by Sepp on the next play sparked an 11-0 Schuylkill run, capped off with consecutive three-pointers by Byrd. Schuylkill entered halftime with a 38-33 lead.

In the second half, Wilkes-Barre managed a 10-0 stretch, giving them an early 5-point advantage. A slam dunk in transition by Amir Gray (Washington, DC / Quince Orchard High School) made it a one-possession game with 17:34 left in regulation.

Another run by Wilkes-Barre saw them extend their lead to 20 points with 6:30 remaining in the contest. Schuylkill persisted, going on a 13-2 run to reduce their deficit to 10 points. Wilkes-Barre regained control of the game with another run, ultimately putting the game out of reach.

Gray and Makhi Jones (Harrisburg, PA / Susquehanna Township High School) scored 12 points each for Schuylkill. Sepp and Byrd finished with 10 points each as Byrd added 7 assists and 5 steals.

Schuylkill (10-13 overall, 7-6 PSUAC) will host Penn State York next Tuesday for their next matchup. Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m.
