Women's Basketball Downs Penn State Wilkes-Barre

DALLAS, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball defeated PSUAC opponent Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

The first quarter of Tuesday night's matchup consisted of 8 lead changes and 5 ties, with neither team establishing dominance, resulting in an even score of 15 heading into the second quarter.

Schuylkill capitalized on a 12-0 run at the beginning of the second quarter, securing a double-digit lead with 6:20 left in the half. Wilkes-Barre responded with a surge of their own to conclude the half, narrowing their deficit to 33-32 as they entered halftime.

Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) had the hot hand for Schuylkill in the third quarter, contributing 12 of the team's 18 points during that period. Schuylkill outscored Wilkes-Barre 18-6 in the quarter, establishing a 13-point lead going into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, Wilkes-Barre mirrored Schuylkill's efforts from the third quarter, reducing their deficit to two points with 47 seconds left in the game. Schuylkill's defense halted late scoring opportunities for Wilkes-Barre, ultimately securing the victory in the closing moments.

Crockett led Schuylkill with 15 points on the night. Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Ava Novak (Numidia, PA / Southern Columbia High School) added 12 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.

Schuylkill (11-12 overall, 6-7 PSUAC) will host Penn State York on Tuesday, February 6th for their next matchup. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.
