Baseball Narrowly Defeated on Opening Day

Your Penn State Wilkes-Barre baseball team drops a close game to Penn State Beaver on opening day in Myrtle Beach. Wilkes-Barre held Penn State Beaver to just 3 hits thanks to a great pitching performance by Brandon Hardiman. Hardiman went 7 innings strong allowing only 3 hits and just 1 earned run. Hardiman also struck a game high 9 batters out of the 29 he faced. Wilkes Barre's offense was lead by Richard Sott, Tanner Williams and Sean-Paul Williamson. Sott went 2 for 2 with a run scored and a walk. Sott also added a stolen base that helped set up the lone run for the Mountain Lions. Williams also went 2 for 2 with a walk, the walk came in the bottom of the 6th with one out. Williamson went 1 for 3 with a run batted in. The RBI came in the bottom of the 6th after Sott drew a lead-off walk and stole second. Tanner Williams also drew a walk making it 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Leory Fettig than reached on an error which also advanced the runners making it bases loaded with just 1 out for Williamson. Williamson grounded out to the shortstop, however, Sott came home to score the lone run for Wilkes Barre.
