Penn State Wilkes Barre is honoring student-athletes who have worked hard both academically and athletically during their time on campus. This week's senior spotlight is Alaena Lloyd. Alaena is a senior from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania who played varsity women's basketball for four years while pursuing her major in Information Systems and Technology.

Alaena has played in every game throughout her four years at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and has served as team captain for two years. She has been awarded with Academic All-Conference all four years. Alaena ends her career at Penn-State Wilkes-Barre as an all-time leader with 236 assists. One of Alaena's best games was against Penn State Dubois in her senior year; she had six rebounds, two steals and scored 15 points.  Alaena Lloyd has contributed a lot during her time at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, on and off the court. The Penn State Wilkes-Barre program will miss her.

Here are Alaena's answers to some questions we asked about her basketball and college experiences.

Q: Who got you into the game of basketball?

A: My dad got me into basketball. He's been a basketball coach my whole life and I've been playing since I was able to pick up a basketball.

Q: What made you chose  Penn State Wilkes-Barre?

A: I came to Penn State Wilkes-Barre because they had my major and because I would be able to play basketball.

Q: Who or what keeps you motivated?

A: My pops keeps me motivated; he's always told me I can do whatever I put my mind to so I strive to achieve every goal I set.

Q: What is your favorite memory playing basketball at Penn State Wilkes-Barre?

A: My favorite memory from playing at Penn State Wilkes-Barre is senior year, beating all the basketball teams we never did for the past four years there.

Q: What are your plans once you graduate?

A: I plan to get a job with my degree once I graduate.
