LeShawn Hammett will enter his 1st season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach this 2021-22 season at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Coach Hammett has already solidified himself as one of the elite coaches in the USCAA. He was named the 2019 USCAA National Men’s Coach Of The Year and lead our men's team to Two USCAA  Men’s National Championships In Program and Men’s PSUAC conference history.

Coach Hammett will now take over our women’s program with hopes to have the same success for our Lady Lions.

In the 7 years of leadership under Coach Hammett the men’s team has posted a 143-63 overall record with an impressive 92-32 In PSUAC conference play. The team has made the playoffs every year with 3 PSUAC conference championship game appearances. In the 7 seasons with Coach Hammett at the helm, playing in Lehman has become a tough place to play as the Lions have a impressive 59-16 home record. Coach Hammett Also Holds The Program Home Win Streak Record Of 26 Straight Hime Wins In A Row.

Coach Hammett has also in his 7 seasons coached 12 USCAA All-Americans, 15 All Conference Players, 2 Newcomer Of The Year winners, 2 PSUAC Defensive Player Of The Year and 9 Academic All-Americans. He also has 10 players playing professionally abroad that played for him at PSWB (Colton Lewis Chris Cantine, Ameer Biddle, Marc Emile, Jayden Hampton, Shakur Jackson, Marc Emile, Anthony Picott, Kevin Silverberg & Jordan Williams.

“I’m very excited and accept the challenge of building the program. The goal is to be one of the best teams in the conference and country. We will recruit the best student athletes across  the country so we can achieve our goals. We are going to make this an exciting and program our school can be proud of.

Coach Hammett also Currently Has 21 Of His Former Players From Both His PSU Wilkes-Barre & Cecil College Playing Professionally.

Coach Hammett is a graduate of nearby Luzerne County Community College, where he currently ranks as the school’s all-time leading scorer. After a highly successful career at LCCC, Coach Hammett went on to play at St. Francis University in Pennsylvania. Subsequently he played professionally in the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia for 7 seasons.

Originally from the Bronx, New York, Hammett is married to Mahogany Hammett and has four children: Te’onna (23), LeShawn Jr. (18) Michael (12) and Liam Anthony (6).
