Mountain Lions defeat Penn State Schuylkill at home

Mountain Lions defeat Penn State Schuylkill at homeOn Tuesday, Jan. 29, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's basketball team took on Penn State Schuylkill at home at 8 p.m. A total of three jump balls were made within the first few minutes of the game with no scoring from the Mountain Lions. 

#12 senior Jalen Willis (Baltimore, Maryland/Genesse C.C.) started off the scoring by sinking a free throw and making a layup. #14 senior Teequan Holley (Queens, New York/Sullivan C.C.) followed closely, making four points. 

#3 sophomore Isaiah Leonard (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) made his mark at the three-point arc, sinking two shots in a total of six points. The Mountain Lions' combined effort, through multiple layups and free throws, made scoring close in the first half. 

By halftime, the score was 38-33 Schuylkill. 

#20 sophomore Anton Berga (Queens, New York/Martin Luther High School) was the first to put points on the board for the second half. After #2 junior Elijah Perez (Bronx, New York/Stevenson High School) made a layup, the score was tied 38-38. 

The Mountain Lions kept a steady winning pace the rest of the game. 

#13 junior Jedidiah Ashton (Brooklyn, New York/Monroe College) made his way through Schuylkill defenders to make a jump shot at the net. After getting fouled, the forward made both of his free throws. 

After an attempted shot by #4 junior Rashod Ballard (Largo, Maryland/Ann Arundel C.C.), #15 senior Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, Florida, Penn State Schuylkill) was at the net to tip the ball in. 

After getting a pass from more than halfway down the court, Ballard made his way to the net and finished with a layup. After making four points on free throws, the Mountain Lions finished strong. 

The final score of the game was 86-68 Wilkes-Barre. Top points scorers of the game were Jalen Willis with 14, Wilvens Fleurizard with 13, and Rashod Ballard with 10. 

The Mountain Lions play their next game at home against Penn State Brandywine on Saturday,  Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.
