McCormmick hits 1,000 against Wilkes-Barre

Wilkes Barre, PA- Penn State Fayette Women's Basketball gets a special win Friday night against Penn State Wilkes-Barre. 

To some players on the court it was a normal night as they stepped on the floor against Penn State Wilkes-Barre, but for Taylor McCormmick it was a night to leave her stamp on the Fayette Women's Basketball program forever. Although Taylor McCormmick was still 41 points away from 1,000 she didn't let it get to her head, but more used it as a motivator. 

"I've been waiting for this moment my whole basketball career," said Taylor. "I knew I needed 41 points to get 1,000 and I was determined to get it. It was like I was in my own world. When I scored the point to get me to 1,000 it was so overwhelming and I couldn't help but to shed a few tears. All glory goes to God."  

Taylor finished the game with an astounding 44 points, leading Fayette to a win of 81-58. Other leaders on the court were Abby Bickerton with 12 points and 19 rebounds, and Stephanie Taylor with 15 rebounds.  

Teammate Abby Bickerton, a junior at Fayette, had this to share about her teammate Taylor, "Taylor is the kind of teammate you can always rely on, not just for bailing us out if we are losing, but keeping a positive mindset during the game. She will cheer you on every point and every rebound you get no matter the situation of the game. She has worked so hard over the past years to become the player she is today and I cannot be more proud and happy for her." 

Assistant Coach J'Taya Pirl has a unique prospective, being Taylor's teammate for three years and now having the honor of coaching her. J'Taya shared this, "Taylor has always been a leader on and off the court. She is a great student athlete and role model. She has always been focused, consistent and resilient. As much as I love having the opportunity to coach her, I do miss playing with her." 

After a well-deserved Thanksgiving break Fayette will take on Penn State Greater Allegheny at Penn State Greater Allegheny for a conference match up on November 29th at 6:00 P.M.
