Men's Basketball Blows by Penn State Wilkes-Barre

SCHUYLKILLL HAVEN, PA – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball defeated PSUAC opponent Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night, 76-59.

With the game closely contested throughout the opening minutes, Schuylkill gained separation off a 10-2 run to take a 21-12 lead with 10:51 remaining in the opening half.

With the score 26-19 in Schuylkill's favor with 7:21 to go in the first half, Schuylkill went on a 10-1 run to take a 36-20 lead and claim their biggest lead of the half with 3:47 remaining.

A made 3-point field goal by Wilkes-Barre with 2:36 remaining brought their deficit to 38-26. Schuylkill's lead was extended back to 16 off a buzzer beater layup by Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, FL / Coral Springs High School) to end the half.

A 9-0 run by Wilkes-Barre brought their deficit to 42-35 with 14:43 remaining in regulation. A made jump shot by Dashawn Dixon (Baltimore, MD / Cantonsville High School) with 13:13 remaining in the contest put a halt Wilkes-Barre's run.  

An 11-3 stretch by Schuylkill pushed their lead to 60-44 with 8:47 remaining in regulation. Schuylkill's lead was pushed to 20 off a made jump shot by Dixon with 2:56 remaining in the contest. Schuylkill held on to their lead and went on to defeat Wilkes-Barre.

Fleurizard led Schuylkill with 22 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. Dixon finished with a 19-point, 13 rebound double-double. Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) added 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Men's Basketball will play their second game of a back-to-back stretch on Wednesday, February 1st, as they take on NAIA opponent Washington Adventist. Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m.
