Balanced Effort Leads Brandywine To 78-48 Victory Over Wilkes-Barre

MEDIA, Pa. -- All 10 players scored and grabbed at least three rebounds as the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team posted a 78-48 victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre Tuesday night.

Brandywine opened the game with four-straight made shots and raced out to a 12-2 lead through four minutes following a three-point play from Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti). In all, the Lions notched a season-high 25 points during the opening period and led by 13 after 10 minutes of play.

Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Kaitlyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) provided a spark to the offense during the second quarter, combining for 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added seven second quarter points as the Lions pushed their lead to 44-22 at the break.

Brandywine continued to front run during the second half, growing the margin as large as 30 points midway through the fourth period.

Diawara made the most of her 17 minutes of action, scoring 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, pacing four double-figure scorers. Floyd tallied 12 points, while Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and Johson both collected 10 points. Koger amassed eight points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals and Arianna Henry (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added eight points and seven boards.

Brandywine, which received 37 points from its reserves, shot 38 percent from the field, while limiting Wilkes-Barre to 29 percent shooting and forcing 29 turnovers. The Lions outscored the visitors in the paint, 36-20.

Brandywine (2-3, 2-1 PSUAC) begins a two-game weekend Friday night at Penn State DuBois at 6:00 PM.
