Brandywine Completes Sweep Of Wilkes-Barre Behind Strong Offensive Effort

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine shot 62 percent from the field en route to finishing off a season sweep of Penn State Wilkes-Barre as the Lions won in a rout, 85-47, on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine made 34 of its 55 field goal attempts, including 7-of-13 three-pointers, while holding Wilkes-Barre to 42 percent shooting and one made three-pointer.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) topped four double-figure scorers with 20 points on 9-for-10 shooting and tallied six steals, while Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) paired 15 points with 10 rebounds. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) tallied 14 points and Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added 12 points. All nine players in the lineup notched at least one point for the Lions.

Brandywine ran out to a 13-0 lead, holding the hosts scoreless for the game's first 4:40. Wilkes-Barre battled back to within seven before Diawara's jumper just before the first quarter buzzer gave the Lions a 21-12 edge through one period.

Wilkes-Barre again climbed within seven at the 8:37 mark of the second quarter after knocking down consecutive shots; however, Brandywine held Wilkes-Barre without a point for the next seven minutes and used an 11-0 run to take control of the game. Floyd netted nine points during the run for the Lions, who built a 41-18 lead at intermission.

Brandywine maintained its large lead throughout the second half. Allen and Koger combined for 14 third quarter points as the margin reached 30 points by the conclusion of the period. Brandywine's biggest lead of the game, 40 points, came during the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Brandywine (9-9, 8-4 PSUAC) will have one week off before returning home Saturday to host Penn State Scranton at noon.
