Men's Basketball Falls to Penn State Wilkes-Barre in Quarterfinal Matchup

Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball fell to Penn State Wilkes-Barre in the quarterfinal round of the PSUAC playoffs, 79-65.

A made 3-point field goal by Antwuan Byrd (Harrisburg, PA / Bishop McDevitt High School) gave Schuylkill a 10-5 lead with 15:38 remaining in the first half. Wilkes-Barre would tie the game on a 3-point make with 14:12 go in the half. Back and forth action continued during the next six minutes of action as there was a total of 4 ties and 6 lead changes between the two programs during that time period.

A 7-3 stretch by Schuylkill gave them separation on the score card as they took a 29-23 lead following a 3-point make by Ryan Worrell (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley High School). A 17-8 stretch by Wilkes-Barre to close out the half gave them a 40-37 advantage heading into the second half of play.

Wilkes-Barre's lead was pushed to ten on a made jump shot with 8:31 remaining in regulation. A made basket by Wilvens Fleurizard (Tamarac, FL / Coral Springs High School) with 1:23 remaining in the contest brought Schuylkill's deficit to 71-64. Wilkes-Barre was able to hold on to their lead late as they went on to defeat Schuylkill.

Fleurizard led Schuylkill with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Bryce Hensley (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain High School) added 13 points. Byrd led Schuylkill with 9 assists.
