Fayette goes 2-0 on the Weekend

Lemont Furnace, PA- Fayette wins both games on the weekend.

Women's basketball started off the weekend with a night game against Penn State Scranton. The game stayed close throughout the quarters, finishing the first half 27-24 in Fayette's favor. The third quarter was a nail bitter, with a 14-14 tie in the quarter, Fayette stilll in the lead by three. The fourth quarter did not disappoint with back and forth scoring on both sides, with Scranton outscoring Fayette by 2, however it wasn't enough. Fayette was able to take the game with a final score, 52-51. Leading for Fayette was Daelin Burnsworth and Heaven Grumm with 10 points. Defensively, Abby Bickerton had 16 rebounds.

Fayette showed up strong for today's competition against Penn State Wilkes Barre. The first quarter Fayette was outscored 20-21, but not for long, coming back in the second quarter 17-8. Despite Wilkes Barre outscoring Fayette in the fourth quarter, Fayette was too far ahead to catch. The final score was 63-57 in Fayette's favor. Leading for Fayette was Sophia Zalar with 13 points, Abigail Bickerton had 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Heaven Grumm added a solid 12 points.

Fayette will take on Waynesburg to end their 2023 half of season. Waynesburg is currently on a 0-8 losing streak and this will be the first time these two schools have seen each other. The game will take place at 6:00 P.M. on December 18 and will conclude the 2023 games.
