Three-Point Shooting Helps Wilkes-Barre Knock Off Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Wilkes-Barre made 11 of its 18 three-point shot attempts and defeated the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team 92-70 on Tuesday night.

Anthony Picott made all seven of his triple tries, including four during the first half, as Wilkes-Barre built a 43-35 edge at the break.

The teams traded runs early in the first half before a 10-0 Wilkes-Barre spurt gave the visitors the lead for good. The Lions trimmed the double-figure deficit as low as five points following Bryce Barrouk's (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) triple with 47 seconds to go, but Jalen Willis answered with a three-pointer to send Wilkes-Barre into intermission with an eight-point advantage.

Picott knocked down a pair of triples early in the second half to extend the margin to 12 points. Brandywine countered as Barrouk made a layup and Devon Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) buried a triple to slice the deficit to nine.

After a Wilkes-Barre bucket, five-straight points from Barrouk made the score 55-49 with 14:47 to go, but the visitors netted 11 of the next 12 points and led by double figures the rest of the way.

Barrouk knocked down four three-pointers and 12-of-21 shots overall to produce 29 points, along with a team-best 15 rebounds. Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added 11 points, eight boards and three steals, while Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) tallied eight points and handed out four assists.

Picott finished with a game-high 30 points on 9-for-11 shooting for Wilkes-Barre, which shot 48 percent from the field. Brandywine connected on 42 percent of its shots.

Brandywine (2-5, 1-2 PSUAC) begins a two-day road trip on Friday at Penn State DuBois at 8:00 PM.
