Men's Basketball Suffers Road Setback at Wilkes-Barre

Dallas, PA. - The Bucks men's basketball two game win streak ended at the hands of USCAA power, PSU Wilkes-Barre on January 10, 2024, losing by a score of 93-73 at the Mountain Lions home gymnasium.

The Centurions were looking for a signature win this season against a top team and were coming off an impressive victory last week. First basket was scored by Bucks as sophomore forward, Jaquis Heath (Newtown, PA/La Academia Partnership) made a jumper from the free throw line. The teams went back and forth for the first 10 minutes of game, exchanging lead multiple times. Then the Mountain Lions slowly started to take control of the game with offensive rebounding, which lead to points in paint and applying pressure. Bucks stayed close the remainer of the half but with big plays from versitle freshman guard, Elijah Bryant (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson). The second half, fatigue set in for Bucks as Wilkes-Barre's reserves kept the pressure on and ended up outscoring the Bucks bench, 36-21.

Freshman, Bryant, lead the team in scoring with 16 points including going 7-7 from the free throw line and sophomore, Luis Rodriguez (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) with 13 points and 4 blocks for the game to help pace the Centurions. Octavio Alexander (Dallas, TX/William Huthin) 12 points, 6 rebounds and Heath, 12 points, 4 steals added to the team's totals.

The loss drops the Centurions to an overall record of 5-10 and Wilkes-Barre improves to 9-2 overall on the season.

The Centurions are back in action on Friday, January 12th when they host ESAC newcomer, Christendom College with tip-off scheduled for 7:00pm. This will be double header with the women's team.
