New Ken drops game to Wilkes-Barre

New Kensington, PA - New Kensington hosted PSU Wilkes Barre on Friday night for the home opener. 

Within the first 2-minutes, Benjamin Cunningham (Woodbridge, VA) shot a free throw leading PSNK to 1 – 0. Wilkes-Barre leads with a jumper until Aubrey Feaster (Buffalo, NY) pulls PSNK back into the lead with a 3-point jump shot. Shyheim Flanagan (Breaux Bridge, LA) shot a 3-point jumpshot that brought PSNK to 7-pts. With both teams' guards up, Ta'Rasi Means slips through with a layup, keeping PSNK in the lead with 13-points.

PSNK stayed in the lead, thanks to 2-points from Andre Hayes (Ashburn, VA). After a called timeout from New Kensington, Donaven Johnson ( Houston, TX) shot a 3-pointer tying the score at 25-25.

Two free throws brought Wilkes-Barre to 27-points to New Ken's 25. Lay-ups from Flanagan and Sammy Carey (Springdale, PA) took PSNK to 29-pts. The Lions wrapped up the first half with 51 to 41 for Wilkes-Barre.

In the second half, Wilkes-Barre and New Kensington were neck-and-neck during the last 17-minutes on the board. As it winds down to the last 5-minutes, Wilkes-Barre led with 78 -76. The scoring went back and forth. On a time crunch, Wilkes-Barre took the win at 90-pts. to 82-pts.

Means led the Lions with 25 points, Feaster scored 24 with 9 rebounds, Flanagan had 13 points and Johnson had 11 points.
