Brandywine Routs Wilkes-Barre; Earns Third-Straight Win

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – All 10 players scored as the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team matched a season high by winning its third-straight game, routing Penn State Wilkes-Barre 79-56 on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) fueled the victory by combining for 37 points and 30 rebounds. Brombacher recorded the first 20-point game of her career and pulled in a season-high 14 rebounds, while Floyd registered 17 points and matched a career-high with 16 rebounds.

Katelyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) shot 5-of-7 from the field and poured in 12 points, while Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) hauled in nine rebounds and dished out four assists. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) chipped in seven points and six boards and Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added eight points.

Brandywine scored the final four points of the opening quarter to lead 17-10 after one period and broke the game open during the second stanza by outscoring the hosts 24-6.

Floyd and Brombacher combined for the first six points of the second quarter and after a pair of Allen free throws, Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) added a layup. Johnson canned back-to-back jumpers to cap an 18-0 Brandywine surge that made the count 31-10.

The Lions' defense held Wilkes-Barre without a point for nearly seven minutes and yielded just two made field goals during the final 11 minutes of the first half as Brandywine opened up a 41-16 halftime edge.

The duo of Floyd and Brombacher totaled 12 third period points to help Brandywine maintain a 23-point cushion. Johnson's layup with 6:49 to play gave the Lions' their largest lead of the day at 30 points.

Brandywine dominated down low, outscoring Wilkes-Barre 50-18 in the paint, while holding a 55-41 edge on the boards. The Lions shot 38 percent from the field and limited the hosts to 33 percent shooting.

Brandywine (10-9, 8-5 PSUAC) visits Penn State Scranton Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
